JDC offers stabilisation and ground improvement service to support out earthworks team. JDC, with our engineers will review existing and proposed levels in PDF and/or DWG format and assess the practicalities and commercial effects of various solutions.
We can take surveys and grids of levels to review what can be done to achieve the most effective ground solutions on site. Along with this we provide testing plans and regimes to follow upfront, during works and on completion.
The most common method of ground improvement and modification is lime and/or cement stabilisation. This method can improve programme expectations and also save money but typically stabilising sub soils to a required CBR and then capping with sub-base material (typically type 1 at 75mm-100mm) which not only removes capping layers but also reduces the arisings that would typically be carted to landfill, not only saving time and money but also has obvious environmental benefits.
JDC will offer a testing plan which will typically consist of the following
UPFRONT:
Moisture content, lab and site CBRs, moisture condition value, particle density, frost heave and plasticity. We can also test for organic matter and sulphate levels amongst other things.
DURING:
During Construction we typically take samples to ensure the proposed lime/cement % is being adhered to along with regular CBR testing at various layers (typically 200-300mm)
AFTER:
On completion we would provide a report with the testing plan, finding, CBR values achieves and a generally summary of works.
We are willing to assist up front with trial holes, sampling, modelling/surveys and potential cost benefits. If this is of interest, please don’t hesitate to
